So this morning we were able to get together for some district volleyball! It was so fun! My dermatologist said I need to wear sunscreen if I'll be in the sun for a while. So I did but it was hard to rub in, so I kinda just vibes with the white dad look. Then the sun same down with unbridled power and melted the sunscreen off my face, and it melted and soaked into my dry face so it ended up getting red, irritated and itchy. Volleyball was fun though. Then for some reason I had the biggest munchies the whole day. I could have consumed worlds. I ate everything in my path. Thag night we had a lil zone meeting and played volleyball after. Then I continued to devour anything that caught my eye. Maybe I'm pregnant I dunno.
Tuesday
We had district council which was fun. Our new district consists of our house, 3 Spanish Hermanas and 2 English. I mean it's hard to beat a district of 8 Elders and district council in a living room but we'll see how they do. Then as we were leaving (our church building is the one with the mission office attached) we ran into our mission president! Our new boy. He was really nice and sincere, he even pulled me in a for a surprise interview and told me I'm getting fired. No we just chatted for a bit, it was really cool! I'm excited to work with him!
Wednesday
I made some amazing grilled cheese sandwiches. Like amazing. As my buddy Jake would say, sandwiches of destiny. Then later I made some rice. So yeah a pretty crazy day, I know I know.
Thursday
We literally drove all morning. Elder Sime had to get an x-ray so we drove to the clinic like 15 minutes away, but then we had to fill out a form so we drove to the nearest computer like 30 minutes away, then waited for an hour, then drove back to the clinic, then waited an hour, then drove to the nearest Panda Express like 59 seconds away, then drove home 15 minutes. By that time it was already 7:30 in the morning! Then I ran around in a circle until bedtime.
Friday
Made some german pancakes. Our bishop wants us to contact and visit all the young men so we are starting to work on that. We visited a less active kid who was really cool, we'll visit them again week. Then we had dinner at the ward mission leaders house, and the Hermana cut Elder Kelsey's hair. Always so fun!
Saturday
For the 4th of July, we had a zone meeting, after we played volleyball and basketball. There's this kid in our zone that's like 6'3 and 240 at least. A pure athlete, he's got like a 50 inch vertical it seems. So yeah anyways it's me. When we got home I made those legendary quesadillas again, then we met up with the missionaries in our complex to watch fireworks and do sparklers. People were lighting off fireworks in the complex. One guy with a beer in his hand took the high ground of the playground and started setting off some, and then they fell over and launched right at us. I jumped on top of one and absorbed the blow, as another came at us I tackled the other missionaries out of the way, then I apprehended the man responsible. An American hero. Him and I both.
Sunday
We had our regular Sunday stuff, then we visited another young man in the ward. It was a really cool family! Nice.
Bullet Beans
• This has been the week people say Accutane tries to kill you. At different times in the week, it has looked as if I have a white goatee, but in reality it's just dry skin just chilling. Gotta keep on that grind though.
• Elder Kelsey made some really good meatballs for the house, which was the first time somebody else has made food for the house so it was nice.
• As we were driving home, I was passing through the intersection and ahead of me I see kids like 40 feet past the crosswalk. I was like they're not really about to try and cross are they? I'm going like 50 miles per hour. Well they started to cross, those absolute j-walkers. They stared me down as I slowed and came to a stop. Absolute power move, I've never respected anybody more. Cheers to those mad lads.
• After a meal, there was some warm syrup left over, and we didn't want to try and put it back in the bottle. So we said "Hey Elder Thompson you should drink that it would be so cool, it's only like ¼ cup." He picked up the cup, we began chanting, giving him power. He put the cup to his lips. The crowd feel silent as we watched in disbelief. The warm syrup was emptied from the cup and a defeaning roar could be heard from the stands. Nothing had ever been done with such pride and daring confidence. He truly is the next dragon warrior.
